Sung Taek Hwang
Chairman and Chief Investment Officer
Sung Taek Hwang is the Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Truston Asset Management. He chairs the Investment Committee and has oversight responsibility for all aspects of portfolio management.
Mr. Hwang founded Truston as IMM Investment Management in 1998, serving as CIO and Director of Korean Equity Management. Following a joint-venture between IMM Investment Management and Macquarie Bank, Mr. Hwang served as Director and Head of Korean Equity Management at the new entity in 2000, Macquarie-IMM Investment management, which later became an affiliate of Goldman Sachs. Subsequently, he returned to IMM in 2001. After the Korean Financial Supervisory Service granted the Asset Management Business License in 2008, the company was rebranded as “Truston Asset Management”.
In total, Mr. Hwang has 22 years of experience in Korean equity investments. Mr. Hwang is currently a member of the Advisory Committees of the Financial Supervisory Service, Financial Supervisory Commission and Korea Financial Investment Association respectively. In 2008, he had served as an advisor to the International Financial Bureau and the Economic Policy Bureau under the Korean Ministry of Strategy & Finance.
Mr. Hwang completed the Ad Fontes Program (AFP) at the College of Humanities at Seoul National University. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Seoul National University.
